Campaign 207 Show...all I want for Christmas

OK, so I sent a CD package (again) AND I followed up with an email (with the letter I sent attached) so all the links and stuff could be easily accessed. I am so glad so many are willing to help out.
I was going to put together a little &quot;blurb of information&quot; you could &quot;draw from&quot; to use in your correspondence with 207 but have decided against it. Instead I think YOU should tell them why they should put me on the air. It could be a moment we had together at a show, long-standing friendship, the hard work this journey has taken us on, a certain song, my journey to sobriety, a way to get in my pants (lol), etc. YOU will know what your reasons are so you should write the words on your own.
You could start with: &quot;I heard one of my favorite Maine songwriters, Brad Hooper, had applied to be on 207. I wanted to let you know that...&quot;

Here are some links you could/should include:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shS5f9HZc_8&amp;feature=related">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shS5f9HZc_8&amp;feature=related - Brad Hooper at OLS
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fc3oDdMxfpQ">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fc3oDdMxfpQ - Brad Hooper at Maine Songwriters Present
<a href="http://youtu.be/RkAni9MAz6w">http://youtu.be/RkAni9MAz6w - Whiskey Junction &quot;Live&quot; from Tucker's Music Pub
<a target="_new" href="http://greatfallstv.net/webstream.htm">http://greatfallstv.net/webstream.htm - Full Maine Songwriters Present show on Great Falls TV

Step One - here is the contact information and address:
Becki Smith - Executive Producer
207/Bill Green's Maine
WCSH6
One Congress Square
Portland, ME 04101

<a href="mailto:besmith@wcsh.gannett.com">Email Becki Smith

Phone: 207.523.2957

Becki sends all requests and information to a committee for the decision making process so contacting her is the gateway to getting recognition. Plus Becki is a good communicator and follows up often. If a difference can be made she is the exec. who can do it.

There are several avenues for contact listed and I will leave it up to you how or if you make contact. Obviously email is the simplest way but if you find it in your heart to send a letter it may have a stronger impact. I know when I get a letter it stands out in my mind. I receive so few letters these days. How about you?

Step Two: You choose how much effort you can afford
1. Send email
2. Send letters
3. Call them

Step Three: Call on your friends for help
The last step is to gather &quot;your&quot; troops for the army. Each of you has numerous addresses, family, friends, business associates, music lovers, etc. and most of you use Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. to reach out to your &quot;extended family&quot;. It would be feasible to take this team from 90 members to hundreds of members with very little effort.
1. Ask them to send an email, letter and/or phone call. Forward them what you sent and ask them to forward it with edits so it is easy for them.
2. Ask them to go to my Facebook page and like it, share it, recommend it, etc.
3. Become a fan on my ReverbNation page. (many venues check artists using ReverbNation site)
4. Roll a fatty. (Oh wait, my internal dialogue must not be working.)
5. Send a Facebook invitation to your Maine friends inviting them to help out.
6. Create a flash mob at One City Center.
7. Use your imagination.
Peace,
Squintwood

Building a Gingerbread House

This past week at Sunday River things were a bit slow. As life would have it there was a flurry of opening and closing doors. Behind door number 3 was a great little project for the Grand Summit that stepped forward.
We are building a large gingerbread house and Squintwood got to build the base framing. The house is 6feet by 6 feet and 7 feet tall at the peak. Not huge but really cool. The hard work is really falling on the chefs and kitchen staff.
The kitchen has begun producing 100 sheets of gingerbread and will be putting it together this week. I have requested timeline pictures from the Grand Summit and will post them for you if they come through.
Lots of fun.
Peace,
Squintwood

Finally got a show at Bray's Brew Pub!!

After sending my electronic press kit so many times I am sure they got sick of seeing it I finally went to the open mic and gave it a spin. Best move I could have made. The open mic house band was great and got some real groovy vibes jamming with them at the end of my set. Rusty was there and Steve Bailey was wailing on the guitar alnog with a fine looking lady I did not get to meet. She had it going on for sure.
Long story short I will be playing there in January (mid-week) AND if I am a good boy Sonja said she will put my name in the hat for the Blues Festival 2012! Maybe I am &quot;that Blues Guy, right?&quot; Whatever floats the boat I guess.
Peace,
Squintwood

The Glamour Tour...the "cramp" is on

Recently I went to visit my brother, Randy, and his family in Winthrop. For me a was a well planned two day, four gig, search for more places to play. Primarily focused on the Hallowell area the trip was a great success. Hallowell has an awesome music scene and I expect good things to come of it.
First let me say many thanks to John Hasnip who hosts two of the places we jammed. John helped me coordinate early shows at The Mad Dog and Hoxter's so I could slide into two others later the same night. John also introduced me to the owners and we are now &quot;friends&quot; and Hallowell is now one step closer.
The &quot;cramp&quot; began with a stop to talk with an old friend:

While &quot;visiting&quot; I was haled from 'cross the road. It seems my good friend Clay, his buddy Greg and Roman were working on Greg's place.

The first show was at the <a target="_new" href="http://www.maddogpub.com/">Mad Dog Pub in Gardener. I hope I get the chance to do an entire show here. This place makes Tucker's look like an amplitheatre. Twenty seats open to the main drag on Water Street. The sound flows out into the night, which was great for those of us who still smoke. Just awesome.
Then it was on to Higher Grounds in Hallowell. I heard some really excellent players here so hung for quite awhile before sending me to bed.
Wedn. night it was off to <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Hoxters-Music-Sports-Bar/140232496022721" target="_new">Hoxter's Music &amp; Sports Pub. Tina the singing bartender, the owner Louise and the stage area made the evening very special. I hung here for a long time and next time will likely stay even longer. Louise took my information and I expect there are shows here during the summer months.
Last stop beofre the trek home was <a href="http://seadogbrewing.com/" target="_new">The Seadog in Topsham. Great open mic with strong performers. I didn't get the feeling the barkeep would pass along my information but it is often difficult to tell when it is a busy night. Right above the river by the bridge is a great view while puffing a smoke.
Bonus - the bartender from Hatties just up the road in Hallowell was at Higher Grounds so he took my information, too.

Peace,
Squintwood

Pictures from The Hilltop Days

Many years ago, while the Hilltop was still the place to hang my hat, a recording was done at The Outlook Studio in Bethel. Mr. York, the proprietor of the Hilltop, took me to put down a couple tracks to send into a talent contest. These pictures were promo shots from the day. (I found the old reel-to-reel tape as well but I can't remember how it even sounded.)
This house, nicknamed The Gingerbread House, was moved from it's original spot a little way up the road. It is a local effort to save it and get it back the polish and elegance it used to hold. These pictures were taken in about 1985 on the porch of this awesome architectural marvel. I have wandered the many rooms and was taken by the woodworking that went into the structure.
Peace,
Squintwood
